Alex is a dedicated Pilates instructor with experience as a functional fitness coach + personal trainer. DUO body + mind was created with the knowledge Alex has gained throughout her time in industry to bring you a fun, meaningful practice that really drives the connection between your body + your mind.
As DUO has grown, it has become a fun filled inclusive space that welcomes people of all ages, levels + bodies. Alex creates a safe + comfortable environment where every body is welcome.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
We offer different class styles to offer as much variety as we can. All classes are suitable for every age, every level + every body.
RESISTANCE - a strength + form focussed session using weight + programming to target specific muscle groups
FLOW - whilst still incorporating the Pilates principles this session is much more relaxing with a focus on stretching + breathing
SPICE - this one lives up to the name, a fun filled full body burn with some more challenging + progressive movements
EXPRESS SWEAT - a condensed 30 minute session targeting the full body to start the day with a good sweat

How to book
We use an app called BookFit to make bookings for sessions, it is simple to use + free to download.
Once you have downloaded, simply create a free account + search for DUO body + mind, this will give you access to the full timetable, allowing you to book in for sessions.
Please note that the app does not take any payment, this can be done by cash or card at the end of your session (please see our cancellation policy below).

Cancellation policy
DUO operates a strict 12 hour cancellation window - if you cancel 12 hours or more before your scheduled session you will not be charged for the session or have a deduction made from your block booking.
If you cancel within the 12 hours window, you will lose a session from your block. If you are a pay as you go customer you will not be able to attend any further sessions until any outstanding balance has been paid.
We completely understand that life happens, but as a small business with limited spaces per session we have to operate this policy to ensure everyone has a fair chance at getting in to a session.
Your understanding is greatly appreciated on this matter.
DO i need to bring my own mat?
DUO currently does not provide mats, so please do bring your own mat along with you if you have one. If you don’t have one + you still want to come along we do have a selection of mats that you can borrow.
WHat should i wear?
You should wear whatever you feel comfortable in + ensure you can move easily in your clothing. It is advisable to wear tighter fitting tops to avoid T-shirts falling in your face in downward facing movements.
We offer a completely judgement free space so please wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
How will a class look?
You will be welcomed in to the studio + if you have any reservations or if you’re feeling nervous in any way we will look to put you at ease. We are a very friendly bunch.
All sessions begin with alignment + breath work as it is fundamental to our practice. This will move in to a warm up, followed by the main body of the workout + we will always finish with a gentle cool down, stretching off specific muscles we have worked throughout the session.
Do i need to be fit / flexible to start?
Absolutely not, everyone has a different starting point in their journey + DUO will always meet you where you are + guide you from there.
Pilates is for everyone, you do not have to be fit, flexible, have matching gym sets, or drink matcha to join in. Simply step through the door + we will figure the rest out together.
